BOARD OF MANAGERS MEETING

November 12, 2005

St. Johns Ag Center , FL.

Elmore Herman, President, called the meeting to order at 10:45 AM.

Associations In attendance:  Escarosa, Central Florida, Tupelo, Tampa Bay, Ridge, North Escambia, Northeast Florida Honey Bee Assn, South Florida.  Not present: Tri-County, Hernando and Palm Beach.

Roll call to obtain quorum; 7 associations represented.  A quorum present; only 3 need be present.

Budget Discussion:  Most activity was a discussion of a budget for next year.  The results will be published in the Association’s newsletter as required in the bylaws.

 

The research budget was increased  to $4,000.  There was discussion about how to use this money most effectively.  Motion that this money be primarily used to buy research colonies and materials for those scientists doing active study on bees when requested by Greg Brown.  Seconded  by Wayne Miller (passed).

David Webb, the new vice president will investigate fuller use of the Association’s membership in the Florida Fruit and Vegetable Association.

Budget of $28,000 moved for adoption by Bert Kelley, seconded by Doc Bullard (passed).
