of newsletter published in January to take the place of the letter the
president is to send out according to the bylaws to remind members of their

Those present thought this a good alternative for the first cut. After a period it was decided to send a
first-class mailing to those who are not paid for 2004.

existence. One is Bronze (Lee del
Signore), other is stainless steel (David Westervelt). Lee said American Bronze Factory made good

At
the present time there are a total of 66 colonies (Cramer Apiaries), 48
colonies (Lee Del Signore; South Florida Apiary) and 16 colonies (Elmore
Herman) making up the Conrad Cramer Memorial Apiary. A check for those managed by Cramers was forthcoming. The Apiary committee has developed a form
for reporting from apiary managers.
Bert
Kelley can no longer serve as region six (6) nominating committee member for
the National Honey Board. Discussion of
who would replace him. Two people are
required to be recommended. Elmore
Herman considering the position. Anyone
nominated must be committed to attend the meetings. Anyone interested should contact President Cutts.
Invitation
to consider
Sponsorship of 2004 National Association of County Agriculture Agents by Gary
Brinen discussed. There is no money
budgeted for this and the educational budget is all spoken for. Executive Director to write a note to Gary
Brinen stating the Association’s regrets.
Since
the Department of Agriculture will no longer sponsor a bee beard at the state
fair, there was discussion as to whether the state association would take it
on. Those at this meeting believed it
could be handled. Elmore Herman
motioned to have Laurence Cutts chair this activity, seconded by David
Westervelt, passed.
Bert
Kelley passed around a signup for helping at the state fair; he is this year’s
coordinator. Anyone interested in
helping please contact him. He also
mentioned that the varieties of honey present at the last fair went over well
and this will be continued (tupelo, gallberry (holly), palmetto and
orange. He also suggested adding a
creamed honey for the tasting.
The
honey labels for the state fair have ex-president Herman’s address. Motion to keep this until the labels run out
(Bert Kelly), seconded David Westervelt, Passed.
Motion
to have the Executive Secretary mail a card to James Fussell, 1867 King Rd.,
Bartow, FL 33830 saying members missed him at the Federation Meeting in
Jacksonville and were thinking about him.
Motion
to adjourn (Elmore Herman), seconded by Bert Kelley, Passed.
Meeting
adjourned 12:30 p.m.
Respectfully
submitted,
