Nathaniel Foote, his wife Elizabeth and five children came from Essex, England on the "Brigg Ann" about 1630. Initially he was a proprietor of Watertown, MA. In 1634 he went to a site on the Connecticut River and helped establish the town of Wethersfield, CT. where he became the largest landholder. He married Elizabeth Deming in England in 1615 (b. 1595; d. 1683). After his death, ca 1644, his widow married Thomas Wells, Governor of the Colony.
