This is the first generation of Sanfords issuing from Thomas Sanford, b. 1607-8 in Essex County, England.
Thomas Sanford was born in Essex County, England, probably at Hatfield Broad Oak, son of Ezekiel and grandson of Thomas Sanford. He was a tradesman in Essex and first mentioned at Dorchester, MA in 1634. He married Sarah Meadows at Dorchester in 1636-37 and they removed to Milford, CT soon after 1639 as one of the original planters. They were added to the First Church of Milford in 1642. She d. 14 May 1681 and he d. the following October, both in Milford. They had seven children all baptized in Milford, except Ezekiel and Sarah (per Milford Church and Town records).
